vatican city by night

and trivi fountain
Sorry there will not be any new pictures. But i do have some stories to recap.
1
We met some girls from belgium one night. we were on our way from campo di fiori to piazza nevouna and started talking. at nevouna they wanted us to take pictures of them by the fountain, so they strutted up and down posing and that such. then they all started taking off their shoes and well splash, they were in the main fountain in piazza nevouna, yes the one from angels and demons movie. we were quickly reminded by a waiter from a near by restaurant that we cannot do this and the police were coming. so we hauled ass out of there.
2
Salsa dancing is amazing. went to a salsa club with a live band and had a blast. until david ray drank too many long islands, the killers, and we walked home in the rain.
3
ROMA! the soccer game is insane!!! teh people there throw flash grenades in the stands and light flares. absolutely wild. speaking of roma soccer i bought a jersey and a scarf today at the flea market. i love hagling with the people. haha one scarf for 5? no two for 6!
4
guiness by the pitcher is the best. we watched u-m at scholars drinking that wonderful milkshake called guiness by the pitcher. then the next night we met up at the abbey and watched some nfl and it was grand.

Sorento, Capri, positano, pompeii

Last weekend my roommates and i took an adventure to the south. We boarded a bus and drove 5 hours to the coastal town of Sorento (south of naples). The next morning we woke up early and shot across the sea to the island of Capri. (photo) This has got to be the most beautiful place in the world. We hiked all the way to the top of the mountain through high grass, over rocks, and along a dirt path that litterally was falling away under our feet. regardless, the view from the top was absolutely breath taking, and not cuz it was so high in altitude. The following day we took a windey bus ride down the coast for 45 minutes to the town of positano. The road was literally build onto a 200 foot cliff and switchbacked the entire time, causing one lady to vomit all over the bus driver about 20 minutes in. but Positano was majestic! sorry no pics but it was a little town settled between 2 peaks and right on the sea. Pompeii was the following day and that was amazing. despite being absolutely exhausted by this point, it was wild to see the entire civilization just frozen in time.

first day of class

so i started classes today, and it was a complete grounding of welcome to real life. It sucks having actual things to do now. but campus is beautiful. after class i grabbed my camera and shot some stuff in trastevere which is south of the vatican and just west of the river. theres some photos below.

This is a motorino, there are millions of them zipping through the streets and they have no laws. they drive in between cars, on sidewalks, and wherever else they want.

some other photos of the lady that sells fruit, and well other stuff.

FIRST FEW DAYS.

hokay so, it is my third day here in roma. the city is amazing. in here you will see some pictures of my apartment. it is HUGE! i am living with 5 other guys who are great. two just got here today and the othere 3 arrived with me. but we have 3 bedrooms, a tiny kitchen, two small baths. and a huge living room with balcony overlooking the street. i lucked out and got the room that overlooks piazza scotti. you will see in the picture to the top. Then below are some pictures from inside the apt. along with a shot of the view from our balcony. the people here are insane drivers and i have almost gotten hit multiple times by both cars and motoristas. or motorcyclists.
so last night we visited ancient rome, the colloseum, the unknown soldiers grave, etc. and the city is just huge and well so old. everything is built on everything and nothing makes sense. no roads go in specific directions. but thanks to the bus we get around pretty easily. well that is it for now. i plan to go back to old rome with my camera at a latter date.
